The Wizard of Oz at The Epstein Theatre in Liverpool

This Easter you and your family can watch The Wizard of Oz at The Epstein Theatre in Liverpool. It’s an absolute classic of a story and Regal Entertainment do a fabulous job of keeping all the main elements you will know and love from the original, whilst also adding in some fun extras along the way, like a local circus and a neon dance party! It has a running time of approximately 2 hours with an interval roughly half way, so perfect even for the younger family members and don’t worry if they won’t sit still for too long as there are plenty of opportunities to get .

The pantomime follows the story of Dorothy (Mia Molloy) alongside Toto (a real dog!) who land in Oz after a storm on their farm. Here they must follow the yellow brick road to find the Wizard of Oz (Warren Donnelly) in order to go home.

Along the way they meet the Scarecrow (David Heath), who brings fun and laughter to the show from start to finish with his cheeky one liners and audience inclusion.

The Tinman (Shea Ferron) who will wow you with his dance moves from the very first time you meet him and the Cowardly Lion (Hannah Riley) who has the cutest roar of all and makes for a very lovable lion.

Together they must all help keep Dorothy and Toto safe and defeat the Wicked Witch of the West (Katy McKenna).

There are so many amazing moment throughout the show but the stand out one for us is Dorothy’s rendition of “Somewhere over the rainbow” which is simply beautiful and although we have heard Mia Molly sing this previously at St. Helen’s Theatre Royal is was still just as impressive.

Alongside some of the classics that you will recognise from the original Wizard of Oz you will also find yourself singing and dancing to a whole host of music that spans the decades with a little something for everyone, this is just as much musical theatre as it is pantomime and we are totally here for it.

A special mention also has to be given to the dancers. Without them the show wouldn’t be what it is and to watch them up on stage from such a young age with so much confidence and talent is just incredible.

Overall the Wizard of Oz at the Epstein is a laugh out loud pantomime that will entertain the whole family this Easter and we give it 5 stars, so grab your tickets today.
