If you have a little CBeebies fan in your house, I think I may have found a theatre trip they’ll absolutely love!
We were invited to The Lowry in Salford to experience CBeebies House Party LIVE!, and honestly, it was pretty much everything you could imagine inside a young child’s head – brought to life on stage.
Think colour, music, bubbles, balloons, dancing, characters and lots and lots of excitement!
A CBeebies house party brought to life
CBeebies House Party LIVE! is exactly what it sounds like, a huge party featuring some of the characters and presenters little ones already know and love from CBeebies. There are songs, dancing, streamers, giant jellies, bubbles and plenty of opportunities for children to join in.
And it really does feel like a party.
What did the boys think?
Our boys absolutely loved it, they are 3 and 4 and were in their element.
Seeing George was a particular highlight for them, but I think the biggest hit in our house was Dodge the Dog on the decks!
Watching the boys dance along and get completely swept up in the atmosphere was exactly why I love taking them to experiences like this. There was so much happening visually that even when they weren’t actively joining in, there was always something to watch. It genuinely felt like stepping into their little world for an hour, bright, colourful, noisy, exciting and completely joyful.
Is CBeebies House Party LIVE! good for young children?
I think this is where the show really works. The whole thing is designed with young children in mind, rather than being a theatre show that happens to be suitable for children. The characters are familiar, the music is recognisable, the audience is encouraged to join in and there are lots of visual surprises along the way.
It’s also an inclusive experience, with BSL interpretation at every performance, which is something I really love seeing included as standard.
Our verdict
For us, CBeebies House Party LIVE! was a big yes. 💛
It was bright, bubbly, energetic and full of the things young children love. The boys came out super happy, and I think that’s probably the best review I can give it.
If you’re looking for a first theatre experience for a young child, or you have a little one who is obsessed with CBeebies, this is definitely one I’d have on your radar.
And if your child is anything like mine, prepare for the possibility that you’ll be dancing too!
It is worth noting however that the cast of CBeebies House Party LIVE will change venue to venue, so make sure to check who’ll you can expect to see at your show.
