1. Keeps Kids Entertained on the Go
It can be used anywhere so whether you are on a long flights, a train journeys, or even a road trips this can be used to snap pictures of you on your travels or anything of interest they spot during the journey. As the myFirst Camera Insta 2.0 has built in editing tools and fun frames it can also be used during the journey to create some fun pictures and keep them occupied.
If you have a younger child maybe set them challenges to take pictures of certain things like
- Cows
- Birds
- Yellow cars
Having something specific to look for will also help keep them engaged and busy during the journey too.
If they are a bit older you could encourage them to create a scapbook of the adventure and set them a target of taking 3 meaningful pictures from each aspect of the day/week, pictures that will help tell the story of their journey like
- Airport signs
- A traffic jam
- A picture with the train conductor
2. Encourages Creativity and Independence
There’s something magical about giving a child their own camera. The will start noticing details from their eye line that adults often miss, colourful tiles, quirky street art, interesting food, animals, and architecture.
Allowing them to take pictures of the things that they like and notice will helps them feel involved in the trip which is perfect for days that involve lots of walking, museums and other things children may not be interested in.
3. Instant Prints
The myFirst camera allows for instant prints which are perfect for:
- Travel journals
- Scrapbooks
- Postcards to send home
- Swapping photos with new friends they meet
Kids love the immediate reward of seeing their photo appear in seconds which will also help keep them engaged.

Our review of the myFirst Camera Insta 20
I was immediately impressed the myFirst Camera 20 and found that set up was easy and straight forward and then continued use was even easir meaning my daughter could use it herself with very little help. The screen is big enough for her to look through the pictures after she has taken them which is something we have found she loves doing and something that will also keep her busy in itself when travelling.
Although she is 6 she can be a bit clumsy and we have found that the camera is very durable which is great because at £99 we a) can’t afford for her to be breaking it and b) don’t want to be following her around with it constantly worried she will drop it but we’ve actually found we can relax and just let her enjoy it which is great.
The instant prints really are instant, they take a few seconds to come out and she loves them. They are easy to print and easy to remove so again this is something she can do herself which makes it much better.
The only things we found that are worth pointing out but shouldn’t put you off are that the thermal prints do fade over time. This means they are great for instant fun and keeping in a scrapbook but they wont work as long‑term keepsakes so if they do meet a friend abroad make sure you grab a picture on your phone too.
It’s also worth noting that this is not designed for high‑resolution photography so don’t rely on it as your only camera for a holiday or event but it is perfect for children to have fun with.
Overall we are a massive fan of the myFirst Camera insta 20 and think it is a travel must have for kids, it’s a great way to keep them occupied, encourage them to engage with different aspects of your travels and introduce them to photography.
