Today, August 8th 2022, is national CBD day. It is a day designed to raise awareness about the benefits of CBD products and to break down some of the myths that surround CBD usage. Today I have teamed up with a number of CBD specialists to showcase a range of products and highlight their benefits so that you can make an informed decision as to whether they are for you or not or whether you want to learn more about a particular product and it’s benefits.
What is CBD?
The first question that most people have is “what is CBD?” Which is closely followed by “Is it a drug?” and “Is it illegal?” So lets start by answering these.
CBD is also known as cannabidiol and is a chemical that can be found in marijuana, however, CBD products do not contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THT) which is the psychoactive ingredient also found in marijuana. Therefore CBD is not classed as a drug, you will not get high and it is not illegal. Instead CBD products are believed to have numerous benefits including
- Aid sleep
- Reduce pain
- Anti inflammatory qualities
What CBD products are available?
Oils – general health and aids sleeps
CBD oil is probably the one most people have heard of. It usually comes in a small glass bottle with a pipette type top so that you can easily administer drops of the oil to yourself or others with ease. The oil can be added direct to your mouth, usually under the tongue, or in some instances people prefer to add it to water and ingest it that way.
Most companies that stock CBD products will stock the oil including Columbia Care who, alongside the commonly sourced unflavoured CBD oil, also offer a very popular peppermint flavoured one too. Both are available in 10% which is 1000 MG / 10ML.
Soft Gel Capsules – general health and aid sleep
If the oil is not for you then the next most common CBD product is the soft gel capsules. Again you can order these from Columbia Care in tubs of 30 with a strength of 10%. These capsules are easy to swallow, THC-free, 100% Organic, Vegan, and non-GMO and each tablet contains 30mg of CBD.
Alternative CBD products
When individuals start to look at taking CBD they have usually already heard of oils and capsules but there is a whole breadth of products that are now available that are a little less well know. Yet for some people using these products are more appealing as they are not ingested they are applied to the body targeting certain areas or ailments. If you want to try CBD but are still unsure about the oil and capsules then maybe these products would make a good alternative for you.
Hand and Body Cream – Anti-aging
Eresos have created a range of luxurious beauty, cosmetics and skincare products that are infused with botanicals and CBD. One such product is their coca hand and body cream that is enriched with shea, aloe vera, vitamin E and CBD. This incredible hand and body cream offers anti-aging, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities and it can be used on the whole body or reserved for those areas that are causing you specific problems, aches and pains. It is non-greasy and non-sticky and suitable for all skin types leaving your skin feeling soft and intensely moisturised. It is available in a 200ml tube and contains 1000mg of CBD which is considered to be a medium dosage.
Active muscle therapy balm -muscle pain relief
Eresos have also created a product that is designed specifically for athletes. Their active muscle therapy balm with arnica, black pepper, sage and Tee tree oil is perfect for those with sore muscles. It is designed to be applied to the muscles before physical activity to maximise your workout and then again post activity to aid recovery. The balm comes in 100ml tube and contains 500mg of CBD which is considered to be a low dosage.
Another option is gummies, for more information about CBD candies click here.
When taking CBD oi it is best to start of with a low dosage and increase it over time as opposed to starting with the higher ones. You can also speak with your GP or a CBD specialist if you are unsure which products to try and at what dosage.
