Free farms on the Wirral 

Tam O’Shanters Farm

Where Boundary Road, Bidston Hill, Wirral, CH43 7PD.

Price FREE, although they do have donation boxes throughout the farm if you wish to make a donation.

Opening hours 9.30am – 5.00pm

Description Tam’O Shanters farm is one of the only free farms on the Wirral. It has a selection of animals for you too see including pigs, sheep and goats as well as smaller animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs. You can purchase bags of animal feed for a £1 if you wish to feed them. As well as the animals there are two play parks and three tractors that children can play on as well as a café that serves a selection of hot and cold meals.

Church Farm

Where Church Lane, Thurstaston, Wirral CH61 0HW

Price Adults £6.50 Children £6 Under 2’s FREE

Opening Hours 10am-5pm

Description  Church Farm is a great day out for the whole family with lots of things to do. They have everything from animals to parks, tractor rides to indoor play areas as well as other activities that you can pay extra for on the day. Church farm offer lots of planned activities for special events such as Easter and Christmas so it is always worth checking the website to see what they have going on as booking for these is heavily advised and for some essential!

Holmwood Farm

Where Holmwood Drive, Barnston, Wirral CH61 1AU

Opening Hours 9am-4pm

Description Holmwood Farm is a 3 acre farm based in Thingwall on the Wirral. They have a range of animals including sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs and also snakes, tarantulas, frogs, cockroaches, scorpions and more! You can enjoy animal encounters and handle all of these animals and learn some new and interesting facts.

 

Forget Me Not Care Farm

Where Carr Farm Garden Centre, Birkenhead Road Meols, Wirral, CH47 9RE

Price £1 or FREE for under 3’s and those with a disability

Opening Hours 10.30am till 3.40pm

Description Hidden behind the garden centre Forget me not care farm is a wonderful little farm where you and your children can meet lots of different animals. You can also purchase animal food for £1 a bag. There are toilets, a café and shops all within walking distance in the garden centre and parking is also free.

Acorn Farm

Where Acorn Farm, Depot Road, Kirkby, Knowsley, L33 3AR

Price Adults £3.50 Children £2.50 Under 1’s FREE

Opening Hours 9am – 4pm

Description Acorn Farm  is just a short drive from the Wirral and offers a great day out for the whole family. There are lots of animals to see including sheep, goats and horses as well as small animals such as rabbits, guine pigs and even meerkats! There are also plenty of opportunities for you to both feed and stroke a number of the animals too. In addition to the animals Acorn Farm also has  two outdoor play areas, a woodland walk, plant sales centre and farm shop selling home-produced free-range meat, eggs and dairy milk ice cream as well as toys, souvenirs, sweets and drinks

 

Rice Lane Farm

Where Rawcliffe Road, Walton L9 1AW

Price FREE

Opening Hours 10am until 3:30 pm 7 days a week

Description Rice lane farm is a hidden gem on the outskirts on Liverpool. It is FREE to enter but they do have donation stations where you can make a contribution to the running of the farm if you so wish. Here is our review of Rice Lane Farm.

Croxteth Hall and Country Park

Where Main Car Park off Muirhead Avenue, L11 1EH

Price £5 per person Under 1’s go FREE

Opening Hours 10am till 4.30pm

Description  Croxteth Park Farm is a traditional working Victorian Farm set within the grounds of Croxteth Hall and Country Park and was formally owned by the late Lord Sefton’s estate. Here you can meet a range of rare breed animals and take part in daily activities from bottle-feeding calves and lambs to meeting the Irish Moiled bull.
