Halloween Lakeside Light Trail at Partridge Lakes, Warrington | Review

This year, for the first time, Partridge Lakes in Warrington are putting on a Halloween Light Trail which will run for the whole month of October, perfect not just for Halloween but also for some half term fun. We were invited down for a sneak peak before the official opening and below you can read our full review as well as our top tips for making the mos out of your visit.

Halloween Light Trail

The Halloween Lakeside Light Trail has two sections. The first is free to enter and contains lots of seating, outdoor heaters and has music playing. This area is surrounded by a number of vendors selling food and drink, including a bar selling alcohol and you are more then welcome to just pop down and enjoy the atmosphere which might be nice if you’re local and fancy something different.

In this area there is also an undercover marshmallow roasting section which was a big hit with the kids and, in my opinion, good value for money for an event like this. For 3 large marshmallow on a stick and two digestive biscuits we payed £4 and all three kids (3, 10 and 13) loved roasting them as well as watching the green smoke filled bubbles that were floating around the tent too. Even if you don’t want to stay for food and drink I would recommend grabbing one of these between you if you can.

The second section is the Halloween light trail which you will need tickets to enter. Last year we went to the Christmas Light Trail at Bolesworth which was lovely so we knew what to expect to a degree, although we were intrigued to see how this one would incorporate Halloween. If you aren’t familiar with a light trail then basically it is a woodland walk that is illuminated by lots of coloured lights, interactive light shows, music and other props.

Halloween Light Trail

The Halloween Lakeside Light Trail circles around the lake which makes for the most beautiful back drop as the lights dance off the water. The path is just under 1 mile long and relatively flat so walkable even for little ones. However it can get very muddy and I saw one lady with a wheel chair have to turn back and a couple of people with push chairs struggling so I’m not sure it’s that accessible.

The trail itself is great and we all enjoyed it. There was loads to see from start to finish. My advice would be to take your time and really look around as you will spot things out in the lake, up in the trees, hidden in bushes and even on the floor.

Halloween Light Trail

Partridge Lakes have done a brilliant job at making sure this Halloween Light Trail is family friendly and not too scary. Although a word of warning, a couple of the displays do move and talk which caught our three year old of guard and gave her a fright but she quickly recovered. The atmosphere was really good with the creepy horror film music playing throughout which added to the suspense and made you wonder what was coming next.

Halloween Light Trail

Overall we had a lovely time and thought it was a nice family activity that all three kids could do together which we often struggle with now due to the age gaps. We stayed for just over an hour so based on that I think it is slightly over priced as for us 5 it would have cost £74 and then an additional £5-7 for parking, £4 for marshmallows and £15 on drinks, but if the price isn’t an issue then we would highly recommend as it was lots of fun. You can book online for any day in October from 6.30pm and you can even take your dog if you want to for a full family night out.
