Christmas is just around the corner and there are so many festive activities to enjoy that it can feel as though the whole season is sparkling with excitement. From twinkling light trails to cheerful carol concerts and bustling Christmas markets, the celebrations seem endless. Yet one of the most magical and heart-warming experiences for younger children is a cosy storytelling session with Father Christmas. Nestled beside the warm glow of a festive setting, little ones can listen in wonder as he brings Christmas tales to life, creating a moment of enchantment that they can share with their grown-ups and remember for years to come and if you in or near Liverpool then The Bluecoat has just the event for you.
Father Christmas at The Bluecoat
This year you can visit The Bluecoat in Liverpool for a family-friendly storytelling session full of giggles, noise, and nonsense! The session lasts 60-minute and it includes
- an interactive story telling session with Father Christmas
- an opportunity to share your best jokes
- a chance for every family to meet, greet, and chat with Father Christmas
- a chance to have a family photo taken on your own phone with the help of a friendly Elf
Our Review of the Father Christmas Story Telling
We were lucky enough to be invited down to the preview weekend to one of the relaxed showings at it was such a beautiful session. When we arrived Father Christmas was already there waiting for us and he made a special effort to greet each child as they entered the room and even had a laugh with a few of the adults to. There were cushions set out on the floor in front of him and children were invited to sit there but it was made very clear that they could also choose to sit in the theatre style seats withthe grown ups if they preferred.
The story telling session was very relaxed, no book, just Father Christmas sharing his memories of an event from years ago involving elves, cows and the moon! To ensure it is a fully engaging session there is a screen above Father Christmas that shows pictures to help illustrate what he is saying, an elf that brings in props and multiple opportunities for children to get involved if they wish.
The story is funny and all the children seemed to enjoy it, especially the sprout part!
Once the story is complete each family is invited to meet Father Christmas, have a chat and a photo. I absolutely loved the fact that the emphasis was on a family meet and greet and family photo as we have so many of the children with Father Christmas spanning across the years but very few with us on too, so to get one with our youngest was lovely.

Overall we really enjoyed this relaxed Christmas activity, it was magical and heart warming and one we would recommend to families with children aged between 3 and 8.
There are still plenty of dates available before Christmas with multiple story telling sessions on each day
