Enjoy a Screen Free Summer with the Yoto Mini | Review

The summer holidays are now well underway and families are enjoying their holidays, days out and well-earned downtime, whilst trying to find new ways to keep children engaged without relying on screens to much. If you can relate to this then let us introduce you to the Yoto Mini, a compact, screen free audio player that’s designed to educate, entertain, and inspire kids on the go.

What is Yoto?

For those of you that are new to Yoto, it is a brand built on the belief that kids deserve safe, enriching, and age-appropriate content that puts them in control. Their main products is the Yoto Player which uses physical cards called Yoto Cards that play stories, music, and educational activities through the speaker for your child to enjoy. They are completely screen free and allow your child to sit and listen or enjoy whilst participating in another activity, like free play or craft. Following the success of the Yoto Player the Yoto Mini was introduced. This is a smaller version of the original that has been designed to be used on the go making it a great alternative to screens when out an about and whilst traveling.

Key Highlights of the Yoto Mini:

  • Portable :
It size combined with a 14 hour battery life makes it perfect for flights, car rides, or lazy days by the beach.
  • Huge Content Library:
Yoto’s content range includes over 1,200 audio cards, featuring everything from classic fairy tales and music albums to educational tracks. There really is something for everyone, including Peppa Pig, PAW Patrol, Disney classics, Marvel, Roald Dahl, Star Wars, and Harry Potter.
  • Easy to use:
It is super easy to use with simple controls and a straight forward card swapping system that even young children can master allowing them independence when on the go.
  • Parental Controls:
The free Yoto App allows parents to set volume limits, adjust day and night settings, and manage content remotely. It’s a subtle way to stay in control while giving children a sense of freedom.

Our review of the Yoto Mini

When we first received our Yoto mini I was impressed by how small and light it really was, making it great for packing in our child’s bag on trips both in the car and also when we fly later this year. We found the set up to be super easy to follow and really quick too and once it was up and running our 5 year old daughter had no problems using it by herself, changing the volume and the cards as and when she wanted to.

We were sent the Yoto Mini starter pack cards which include

  • Robin Hood
  • Songs from the playground
  • Story shed
  • My First 100 words
  • Hotel Flamingo
  • Crackling Fire

Which altogether lasts 9 hours and 38 minutes and offers a brilliant mix of things to get your little one started.

Overall we think the Yoto mini is a fab investment, not just for whilst you are traveling but also for in the home, playing in the garden and whilst you are actually way, around the pool or even on the beach. If you are looking for screen free entertainment for your child this is it.
