In May half term my family and I went glamping in Stratford-Upon-Avon, an area we hadn’t visited with the children before and were excited to explore. As we had just bought our National Trust memberships that week we thought we would visit a few places during the trip. We stopped off at Wightwick Manor and Gardens on the way to Stratford-Upon-Avon, visited Charlecote Park during our stay and finally stopped off at Moseley Old Hall on the way home.
Moseley Old Hall is in Wolverhampton and about an hour from where we were staying, making it a great place to stop to break up the journey, get some fresh air and stretch our legs.
Below is our review of Moseley Old Hall from the perspective of a family. I hope t helps if you are planning a visit.
Things to doat Moseley Old Hall?
There is an impressive amount of things to do at Moseley Old Hall, with lots of it aimed at children and families including
Gardens House Cafe Animals Shop Forest area
Tree house Dens Open Field
Moseley Old Hall all is smaller than some of the other National Trust places we have visited but it still has a lot to offer. There are some lovely gardens that you can walk around with benches dotted about so you can relax and enjoy the fresh air. There is an enclosed pen with some animals that you can visit, including a lovely peacock that kept showing off his tail feathers to all the onlookers. Towards the back there is an open field that is great for children to run free on although there are bee hives to one side so just avoid that corner if the bees are out. The field then opens up into a woodland area, again great for the kids to explore and hidden within is the most amazing tree house which was a huge hit with our boys.
There is also a shop and a cafe that offers outside seating and take away.
In addition to all of the utside fun there is also, of course, the Moseley Old Hall itself that you can look round either alone or as part of a guided tour.
Can you take dogs to Moseley Old Hall?
Dogs are welcome in the grounds as long as they are on a lead but they are not permitted in the house. We took Buddy with us and he had a lovely walk across the field.
Overall review of Moseley Old Hall
As National Trust places go I would definitely recommend a visit to Moseley Old Hall if you are in the area. It is suitable for the whole family, parking is free, and you could easily stay for a couple of house if the weather is nice. If, like us, you are passing through the area on a road trip then I would say it is the perfect place for a pit stop. However I would not suggest you travel more than an hour just to visit Mosely Old Hall unless you can combine it with other nearby attractions as it is not a full day event.
Top tip – buy a National Trust membership in advance as if you visit a couple of national trust places you will save money, plus kids go free with the membership!
