I was recently offered the opportunity to write a Smashbox Makeup review and was sent a selection of Smashbox products to test out. As I had never used Smashbox before I was excited to give them a try especially as I had seen them being used by an MUA in a recent masterclass I attended in Manchester.
Smashbox makeup review
I was sent the Smashbox photo finish pore minimizing primer, one Smashbox be legendary long wear lip lacquer in fuchsia and one in lilac and one Smashbox always sharp lip liner in peony and another in shocking pink.
The first piece of makeup I was eager to use was the primer. I loved how easy it was to apply, it blended in with my skin tone effortlessly and felt silky smooth. I have a few small noticeably pores on my nose and they instantly became less visible, with most of them seeming to disappear. I applied my usual foundation over the top and was really pleased with the end result. I also found that my foundation stayed on longer than it normally does so I was having to reapply less often. The next day I was feeling a bit braver so applied the primer without any foundation and actually felt like my complexion was flawless and could get away with a more natural day time look.
The next items I wanted to try were the smashbox lip lacures, or lip glosses. The first thing I noticed about these was the great packaging. I love how they are black and clear with your favoured colour showing through. Both of these are gorgeous vibrant colours, my personal favourite is the Fushia. They made my lips feel luscious, fuller and soft and it stayed on for a few hours without drying up and needing to be re-applied, which I was very impressed with.
I don’t normally wear lip liners but thought I would give these ago. I love how they are twist cap, no more lids popping off in your make up bag and ruining your liner. Better still this twist cap feature also self sharpens so it is always ready to use.
Although I am not experienced at using a lip liner I found these easy to apply, you only need to touch the tip gently on your lips and the colour is transferred.
Update – Since writing my Smashbox makeup review I have actually gone on and bought a number of Smashbox products and am now a huge smashbox makeup fan.
