Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a panto and once again St. Helens Theatre Royal have delivered a cracker, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. If you’re looking for a festive family activity then this has it all from real life dogs, to interactive mirrors and an incredible cast full of famous faces that you are sure to recognise.
Singing sensation and best known for being in the pop group the Nolan Sisters, Maureen Nolan, opens the show as the Wicked Queen on a mission to find out who is the fairest in the land. Maureen makes a very believable Wicked Queen and has everyone booing from the off, but will she be triumphant in the end?
Maureen is soon joined by Leanne Campbell as the magic mirror. Not content with just having actors on a stage Regal Entertainment Ltd have gone all out with a digital recording that really brings the mirror to life. Leanne isn’t your average magic mirror, she’s a bit more talkative, a tad argumentative and apparently there’s even room in there for two as she’s joined by a special guest.
If you’re already a fan of the Regal Entertainment Ltd shows then you will be pleased to hear that resident funny man Lewis Devine is back as Muddles and will have you laughing from start to finish with his cheeky ways and witty innuendos as he swoons over his crush, Snow White. If you are yet to see Lewis in action then you are in for a treat (just don’t sit on the front row!).
Muddles is often joined on stage by Richard Aucott as Nurse Nelly and together the two make a brilliant double act with impeccable comic timing and a fabulous chemistry that makes everything even funnier, especially the 12 days of Christmas song.
Snow White is played by the lovely Chantelle Morgan who falls for the dashing Prince Fredrick played by Emrhys Cooper who you may recognise from Coronation street. The pair are great together and you will find yourself hoping for a fairy tale ending for them.
And of course you can’t do Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs without Seven Dwarfs but in true Regal style nothing is as it seems, so expect to be introduced to Johny Vegas, Craig Philips, John May, Queen of Scotty Road, Joel Ross, Lois Emerick and Pete Price, just not in the way you may think.
A special mention as always needs to go to the dancers from Performing Arts College who are just incredible and who bring the songs to life with their beautiful routines.
St. Helens version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is captivating from start to finfish. It has everything you wold expect from a five star panto and more. It will have yuu laughing, dancing and singing all night long so grab your family and book your tickets for the final panto of the year.
