What is Butlins Just For Tots?

The Butlins Just For Tots breaks are holidays aimed at families with children under 5. They take place at various points throughout the year during term time. During the Just For Tots breaks there is an itinerary of non stop toddler friendly activities from 9am through till about 7pm, with a number of activities being repeated thought the day or week at different times to accommodate for naps, meaning no toddler should miss out. The activities include both indoor and outdoor fun as well as a number of family friendly shows.

The main benefits to booking Butlins Just For Tots breaks are that as they are term time holidays they are cheaper than the usual Butlins breaks and they have more toddler specific activities on. You will also find that as everyone there has a child under 5 with them toddler tantrums are the norm so no need to worry if your little one is having a bad day.

Where and when can you go?

There are three Butlins sites Skegness, Bognor Regis and Minehead. All three offer the Butlins Just For Tots breaks. For the remainder of 2022 you can still book Just for tots during the following dates but be quick as they are filling up fast

  • April 25th-29th
  • May 16th-23rd
  • June 3rd – 27th
  • July 1st-4th
  • September 19th-23rd
  • October 3rd-7th

Who can go to a Butlins Just For Tots break?

As long as at least one of your party is under the age of 5 you can take whoever else you like. This is brilliant for those that want to holiday with the grandparents and make the most of a cheaper get away. If you home school and are happy to educate on the go and also have an under 5 then again these Just For Tots breaks are perfect for your family as although the activities are geared up for pre schoolers and toddlers there is still plenty to keep older children occupied too.

Of course if you do have older children in school and would still like to enjoy a Butlins Just For Tots break you can but make sure you understand the fining policy in your area as you may be fined for removing your children from school during term time for a holiday without authorisation and therefore may find that a normal Butlins break during school holidays is better for you.

What activities are included in the price?

This all depends on the site you pick as there will be some differences, however all three Butlins offer

  • Swimming
  • Shows
  • Messy play

On our recent stay at Skegness Just For Tots we enjoyed

The funfair with 5 toddler rides and 4 big kid or adult rides

Swimming with a baby pool and slides as well as two other pools, a lazy river and then 3 big slides open for the older children or adults

Daily shows including

  • Justin fletcher
  • Peppa pig
  • Thomas the tank engine

Playdoh kitchen

Indoor soft play area

Football skills

In order to enjoy these activities you will need to book a number of them in advance, although swimming and the fun fair are free flow meaning you can just turn up. To book you need to download the app and wait for an email to tell you booking is open, once you get this email I suggest you log in and book what you want quickly as most things get booked up early. If, however, you are unable to book some of the activities you want we found that you can turn up and join the non booked queue and if they have space they will still let you in.

We used this method for soft play and didn’t have a problem.

What do you need to pay extra for?

There is no reason to pay extra for anything whilst on one of these holidays, except maybe food and drink which you can either do on site using the Butlins premium dinning package, off site at restaurants or go self catering and cook in the accommodation.

However, there are a number of additional activities that you can pay extra for should you wish, especially if you do take older children with you and these include

The arcades, everything from 2p machines to rides ons at £1 a go.

Family bike hire

High ropes

Mini golf

Face Painting

Some fairground rides (trampolining and go karts at Skegness)

and of course there are numerous shops, restaurants, bars and sweet treat stalls.

Other things you may need to know about Just For Tots

  • You can hire high chairs and bed sides if you need them.
  • Check swim times, at Skegness mornings are quiet sessions and in the afternoon the music is on and slides are open.
  • Take a pram, buggy or even a scooter for your little one even if you rarely use one at home as some of the accommodation is a good 10 minute walk from the entertainment area and they will be on the go all day.
  • You can use the onsite facilities on the day you arrive and the day you leave so plan for this and make the most out of your stay.
  • Take snacks, lots of snacks with you. There are on site shops but they are more expensive then usual.
