Pirates Bay Adventure Golf is great fun for the whole family. It is sure to grab your attention as you take a stroll down the sea front with it’s bright and colourful pirate-themed course and wonderful palm trees. The adventure golf course is buggy-friendly and not too expensive either. It is likely to keep you busy for at least an hour, longer if you aren’t a golf pro. Paignton Zoo

Paignton Zoo is one of the best things to do in Paignton.  It is a fantastic family attraction that will keep you busy for the whole day. They have over 2000 creatures across various habitats so you are sure to find something to please everyone. Why not take a walk through the lemur woods and see how close the free roaming lemurs are willing to get or take a trip to the gorilla house where you can see some silver back gorillas, a rarity in the UK.

Dartmoor Otter & Butterfly Sanctuary

Otters were once a common sight on the UK’s waterways, but these friendly faced mammals were nearly extinct by 1970s, the unfortunate victims of hunting, pesticide use and the destruction of their natural habitat. But then something lovely happened – the native otter population began to replenish, and today they can be found in almost every river system. Their revival can be attributed to cleaner waterways and dedicated conservation efforts, such as those carried out by at Dartmoor Otter & Butterfly Sanctuary in Buckfastleigh, just 35-45 minutes drive (depending on traffic) from Paignton.
A small, family-run sanctuary, they take in injured, orphaned or abandoned otters, nurse them back to health and release them back into the wild. Visitors can arrange their very own ‘Otter Experience’ including tour led by the keepers and a chance to hand feed your new furry friends. Not just a great day out and an educational experience, but a chance to ensure these aquatic cuties continue to live healthy, happy lives. Thanks to Jacqui Paterson for her review.
We hope this has given you lots of ideas for things to do near Paignton and that you have the best time during your visit.
