Silcock’s Winter Wonderland Manchester | Review

If you only book one Christmas activity for you and your family this year then make sure it is Silcock’s Winter Wonderland Manchester at Event City.  This incredible Christmas spectacular has something for everyone and the best bit, in my opinion, is that you pay one price for your ticket and then everything (except food, drink and games) are included. There are no hidden costs and no worrying about how many rides your children can go as they can ride all the ones they want as many times as they want. There is also free parking and it’s inside so no matter the weather your Christmas fun will not be spoilt.

Our review Silcock’s Winter Wonderland Manchester

On Monday we were invited down to Silcock’s Winter Wonderland Manchester to check it out for ourselves and we really did have the best time. From the moment we entered it felt like a real Winter Wonderland with giant candy canes all around us and snow falling as we walk through the entrance, as well as meeting a number of elves an fairies walking around happy to greet us and pose for festive pictures. There was a real festive fizz to the atmosphere and everyone seemed really relaxed which I think in part is due to it being in an inside venue that feels safe regardless of how busy it is.

We had all three of our children with us aged 2, 9 and 11 and they all found plenty of things that they loved. There is a really good mix of rides from those suitable for toddlers to the more adventurous ones like the waltzes, as well as some fun but more subdued attractions like the fun house.

As a parent I found that the layout of rides works really well for families as they are mixed up all over the place, so whilst the older children are queuing for the faster rides you can still keep the younger ones entertained on a nearby children’s ride. And as Silcock’s Winter Wonderland Manchester is a ticketed event only so many can enter each session meaning that although some rides are more popular than others the queues themselves are not as bad as you would get in a normal theme park or fair so the children don’t have time to get bored queuing.

Top Tip – If you are taking small children, I should point out that some of children’s ride will not allow adults to ride with the smaller children, so check the restrictions before you get in line to save time and disappointment if you do not want your child to ride alone. However there are still plenty that will allow adults on with children, either on the ride or very close by.

During out visit, as well as numerous rides, we also watched the circus. There are two showings per session and I recommend heading over early if you want to get a seat as it does get busy. It is full of very talented acts that will leave you opened mouthed so worth a visit if you can persuade the kids to leave the rides.

Our daughter, 2, also loved the Ice Princess show. This is situated on the main stage in the centre of Winter Wonderland, the same place where you can also watch the Jedi show and Daisy and Ollie. This is also conveniently located next to the numerous bars and food outlets so could be a good idea to grab a mulled wine or  pizza before sitting down to watch a show.

Overall we had a festive, fun filled evening and I would highly recommend it as for on price you can meet the Christmas expectations of the whole family, in one place, under one roof and have a wonderful time together.

What exactly is included in the price?

  • Over 50 rides including dodgems, roller coasters, waltzers, and the runaway train,
  • Bouncy castles and inflatable slides,
  • A baby chill out zone
  • a giant sandpit
  • Circus
  • Elsa and Anna performing on the stage
  • Jedi school
  • Santa himself
  • and more!
