Gandeys Circus | Review

The pandemic may have us all grounded this year but you can still travel the world in 80 minutes with Gandeys Circus as they take you on a magical, musical, tour full of jaw dropping acts performed by some of the most talented artists in the business.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

What is Gandeys Circus?

Gandeys Circus was founded by Bob Gandey in 1910. However, some believe that it was in his blood long before then as both his parents were also in the entertainment industry.  He went on to marry Rose who also joined the show and it wasn’t long before they were touring with their own tent as a family. Due to a twist of fate and a broken down car the Gandeys laid roots in Cheshire and as their family grew so did their circus. Over the years Gandeys Circus has seen many changes but it has always remained a family business even to this day, some 250 years later, it is ran by Phillip and Carol Gandey alongside their daughter Hayley.

Gandeys Circus is a family friendly travelling show that needs to be seen to be believed.

Our review of Gandeys Circus at Ellesmere Port 2021

Last night the boys (8 & 11) and I were invited to watch Gandeys Circus 2021 at Ellesmere Port where it will remain till 27th June. We are huge fans of the Circus and couldn’t wait to go.

The theme this year is “Around the world in 80 minutes” which is pretty fitting considering no one is going anywhere right now and this is probably the closest we will get to a world tour in a long time!

The show is led by Ringmaster Ryan who is, in my opinion, surprising young for a ringmaster. He is charming, friendly, and full of energy. He gets the crowd going from the minute the show starts and doesn’t stop smiling, or singing, until everyone has left.

He is joined in the ring on a number of occasions by the equally charming Andrea, who again surprised me as she appears to take on the role of a non traditional clown. She fills the gaps between acts without you really realising that’s what she is doing as you are so consumed by her that you seem to miss the 5 people in the background moving equipment. Andrea is funny and cheeky and make both children and adults smile from the moment she bursts through the curtain. She also seems partial to a sing and a dance too and you can’t help but find yourself clapping and moving along with her.

As you are transported from country to country you will be treated to an array of incredible, death defying, heart-stopping acts from around the world. Whatever your favourite circus act is you will be sure to see it at Gandeys Circus, only bigger, better, and more impressive. There are no boundaries they wont cross and no risks they aren’t willing to take. If you have seen impressive limbo moves before then imagine that scene, then set fire to the rope and that is they type of next level entertainment you receive at Gandeys.

One of my favourite acts was also the one that had me hiding behind my hands  as they walked, ran, skipped, cycled (yes cycled) across a tightrope. The pair of them were equally amazing and I have no idea how they managed to stay up there but it was entertainment at it’s best.

A special mention also needs to go to the dancers who support the acts throughout. They give a brilliant dance interpretation of the world tour helping to pull the whole show together.

If you are looking for some Covid safe, family friendly, fun this year then Gandeys Circus is where you need to go. There is something for everyone. You will laugh, you will clap, you will gasp, you will stare and I have no doubt you will be on the edge of your seat for the majority of the show. The only thing you wont do is regret going so grab your tickets today before they sell out.
