Just before Christmas we started a new family tradition, Saturday night is games night. It brings us all together and ensures we have some quality, technology free, family fun and it has been a huge hit with the boys. A couple of weeks ago the team at Tactic games UK sent us a new game to try out, Junior Draw Out.
The minute the boys knew we had a new game to play they couldn’t wait to try it out.
The aim of the game is to draw an item listed on the card from a given category and to get the other players to successfully guess what it is before the time runs out. If they do you both move towards the finish line so the pressure is on to draw fast and accurately. This was a bit of a problem in our house as art is not our strong point. My pictures were very basic, stick man like, doodles, with every picture looking more or less the same, the big’un was really using his imagination and creating some “interesting” objects and the tiddler was simply hilarious.
The game was lots of fun and resulted in lots and lots of giggles, with a few frustrated strops thrown in for good measure and I honestly think that our lack of art skills only added to the fun.
Draw out is aimed at children (and adults) aged 5 and over, however our youngest has not long turned 4 and he was able to join in using the picture option on each round as he can’t read yet so it really is a family friendly game that helps develop reading and creative skills in a fun way.
This has definitely become a new family favorite for game night.
