Are you stuck on what to do this summer? Here are 5 things you can organise with your family that they’ll remember for a lifetime.
Take a trip to the beach
Now that the temperatures are heating up, it’s a perfect time to get your swimsuits out and take the kids down to some sandy beaches. It’s never a beach trip without a bucket and spade for the little ones and some games to play; make sure you bring enough sun cream for everyone to use! If you are in Devon then there are lots of things to do near Paignton and in the surrounding areas.
A visit to the museum
A lot of children’s activities are arranged for the summer time when most of the kids are off school. It gives them the chance to learn something new while having fun at the same time. It’s also a great day out for the parents if they’re keen museum goers! Most cities will have museums that are free for both adults and children so these make for great fillers when vising the area.
Cream tea in the sunshine
A get together that everyone can enjoy is a cream tea. From cake slices to finger sandwiches, lovely pots of tea or maybe you’re after another tipple, a great place to start are the cream teas in Hertfordshire hosted by The Enchanted Tea Rooms. Fun for all the family to enjoy, and who can say no to cake?
Day trips to the countryside
Depending on where you live you might benefit from a trip away from the hustle and bustle. There are plenty of activities for children in the summertime that families can benefit from, including at wildlife centres, escape rooms and activity centres or theme parks. It’s something your children can write about later on to share with the class when they return to school or with friends.
Make ice cream
For something a bit closer to home, ice cream making is a fun way of getting the whole family involved in the process. It can take time to put all of the ingredients together by yourself, so have each family member be in charge of one element of the process. Together you can make some lovely ice cream that you can all enjoy once it’s ready to eat.
Visit the theatre
People often forget about the theatre in the summer and associate pantomimes and the like with winter. However, most theatres will have summer shows on and as it is the school holidays you will often find more productions aimed at children too.
