Why We Moved To Cheshire

I was born in Worcester and lived in Malvern as a baby, although I don’t remember any of that, what I do remember is growing up in Blackpool, more specifically in an area called South Shore. Looking back I loved it, I lived within walking distance of the beach, the Pleasure Beach and the Illuminations. I was surrounded by friends and we had the parks and the sand dunes to hang out at and living in a touristy area meant that when I wanted a part time job as a teenager it was easy enough to get one in the hotels waiting on and cleaning rooms, again within walking distance from my house.

At 18 I was set for University and had to make a choice where to go, our closest one was in Preston but when I went to view it it felt massive and scary to me having gone to a small all girls high school and I knew it wasn’t what I wanted, so after visiting a few different ones I settled on a smaller University in Chester, Cheshire.

When I made the move to Chester my then boyfriend (now husband) moved with me and we rented a a house on the outskirts of Chester. Over the course of the next couple of years we realised that we loved the City but we also loved how it was surrounded by the countryside and although we didn’t love the area where we were renting which was classed as North Wales, we knew we wanted to stay in Cheshire and not return to Blackpool.

After house hunting in various parts of Cheshire we eventually found a little village 8 miles from the city centre and bought our first home here. 10 years later we are still in the same sleepy Cheshire village but in our third and hopefully final house as I doubt we will ever leave.

Cheshire has so much to offer and these are the main reason we moved here

  • It has a beautiful, clean, city centre
  • It is surrounded by country side, gorgeous walks, and a forest
  • The house prices do vary from area to area but there is lots of affordable housing options
  • It has great transport links to bigger cities such as Manchester and Liverpool

We feel we have no reason to move anywhere else as the location is brilliant, we can be in a city in 10 minutes a forest in 5 minutes and even a beach in 25. If you are looking to relocate I can’t recommend Cheshire enough and whether you want to have a country view, a canal side apartment or be able to walk into the city there is something for everyone.
