The Year Of Renovations

2017 is the year of renovation projects for us and where as most people would be excited by this, I am terrified. Terrified that something won’t go to plan, terrified we could run into complications that could cost more than we have budgeted for and terrified at the thought of living in a building site with two small children.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

Three years ago we bought a lovely house in a nice little village in Cheshire and although it was livable with no major issues we have always planned to re decorate, remove a wall or two, install a new kitchen and change the bathrooms. But life gets in the way and before we knew it we were three years in and had only managed to make small changes. Last year we managed to update the down stairs loo replacing the rather odd black and white stripped wall paper that made you feel like you were weeing a dark cupboard with some nice light tiles and new toilette and sink. Leaving us with a modern downstairs loo that I am happy for visitors to use.

This year we have finally decided to get on with the bigger jobs, the en suite and the kitchen. Not just one job at a time though, no that would be too sensible. We have decided to start shopping and having valuations done for both at the same time. This is a recipe for disaster, especially when you invite the kitchen fitter up to your bedroom!!

It’s going to be a long few weeks with two small children and no bath or usable kitchen for periods of time but if we call it a mini adventure maybe showers and sandwiches everyday wont be too bad and fingers crossed it will all be worth it in the end.

Edit – We have now redecorate the nursery and the boys bedrooms, one superhero bedroom and one more teenage room.
