As summer becomes a distant memory and Autumn turns to Winter we were asked if we wanted to take part in the ACE winter refresh challenge to freshen up our winter wardrobes. BUT let’s be honest, there is no way that at 37 weeks pregnant I am going to fit in to a single one of my favourite winter outfits, so I thought I would go one further and really put ACE to the test.
As our third (and final) baby is due in 3 weeks time I have eventually got round to getting the boys old baby clothes out of the attic and digging out all the neutral items that we may be able to use again with this baby as I still don’t know if I’m having a boy or a girl. However, these clothes have been in the attic for 6 years not 6 months and they most definitely need a freshen up, question is was ACE for colours powder up to the challenge?
I used two tablespoons of the Ace for colours powder along with my favourite baby washing detergent and softener and washed the clothes on a 40 degree cycle, although it does say it can be used on as low as 30. I found the easy to pour lip so helpful and quick to use and saved my faffing around looking for extra containers to transfer and measure the powder form the box to the machine and then I simply waited for my wash to finish.
I had expected to have to wash some of these items more than once and to even declare other ones too old and faded to reuse but I was astonished at the results. All the items that I washed in the ACE for colours powder have come out bright, rejuvenated, and ready to wear. Especially the gorgeous orange and black tiger dressing gown and the red dungarees that hold so many beautiful memories for me that I can’t wait to re use them with baby number 3.
To say I was impressed with ACE for colours powder at freshening up our babies wardrobe after 6 years is an understatement and I will most definitely be using this to freshen up my pre pregnancy clothes once I can even think about getting back in to them as well as the boys winter coats and festive Christmas jumpers.
If you have clothes that need a freshen up then grab a packet of the Ace for colours from your local Morrison’s or Amazon and give it a try today, not only is the powder itself pretty impressive so is the fact that the packaging is fully recyclable, winner -winner.
TOP TIPS for your ta-dah moment
If you are thinking of storing away clothes for 6 months between seasons, a year between festive activities, or, like us, a number of years from one baby to another here are my top tips to make sure you get the best out of those clothes when you come to use them again
1. Wash them in ACE for colours powder before you store them away and make sure any stains have already been removed.
2. Store them in something air tight and secure. I like the air tight hoover bags as these reduce the space needed for storage and make sure no dirt or dust can get to the clothes.
3. Label the bags so you know what is in them without having to open them unnecessarily.
4. When you come to use these clothes again wash them in ACE for colours powder again and make sure you use your favourite softener so they not only look brights, colourful and rejuvenated but they also smell fresh and ready to wear.
By following these simple steps you will be sure to save yourself money, time and hassle and will feel like you have a whole new fresh wardrobe just when you need it most.
