How to create the perfect card for Father’s Day

Father’s Day is going to be a bit different in a number of ways this year due to the current lockdown rules, no big family meals, days out, or family gatherings.  So making sure we remember to send our dads a card and some presents to show them that we are thinking of them is even more important than usual.  If you have followed my blog for a while you will know that for me personalised presents and cards are my absolute favourite, to me they show the receiver that not only were they being thought of but that they were thought of in advance and worthy of a bit of effort and so creating a personalised card for Father’s Day 2020 seems the perfect solution.

Here are my top 4 tips on how to make the perfect card for dad this Father’s day

1.Check the date for Father’s Day

Make sure you create the card in plenty of time so that you can post it either by hand or via Royal mail ensuring it arrives on or before the correct date. There is nothing worse than looking like you forgot a special occasion and then sent them a card as an afterthought. Of course if you can print your card off at home and deliver it in person then time isn’t as much of an issue and if you have forgotten to nip to the shops then this might just get you out of trouble!

2.Personalise the card

If you are going to go to the effort of designing a card for your dad then make sure you really think about what you want it to look like, there s no point spending time making a card that looks no better than a generic shop bought one. There are lots of tools and apps online that can help you with your design which you can then personalise, either choose a template that you think your dad will love and then add personalisation’s to it such as his name or a heart felt message or upload photographs to make it extra special. If you dad hasn’t seen family face to face for sometime due to lockdown then a nice family picture on the card is sure to make him smile. You could opt for a heart warming moment or something funny that you managed to capture on camera.

3. Use  a nice font

When designing the card, font is important. Lots of people spend a long time on the personalisation, messages and images and then ruin it by using a sad looking standard font. Make the card stand out from the shop bought ones by using a fancy font. You can download fonts from Font Bundles straight onto your PC or laptop ready to use, they have lots of choice including their freebies fonts collection where, you guessed it, you can download fonts for free. You can opt for delicate script type fonts or more creative cartoon styled ones as well as many others, so no matter what style of card you have created you will find a font that will finish it off perfectly.

4. Print it out

Once your card is complete don’t spoil your hard work by printing it out on paper or flimsy card, instead use good quality card or, if you prefer, upload it to a site where they will print it for you and post it directly to your dad. Make sure you have aligned the design and the card up correctly and bought or made an envelop that the card will fit inside perfectly.
