The Liverpool Theatre Festival is now well underway with a fantastic mix of shows for the whole family. On Saturday night it was one for the adults, Holy Moly Cabaret, three very different acts all presented to us by the wonderful Nana Funk.

First up was Liverpool’s very on Millie Dollar, a burlesque dancer who knows just how to shake her tail feathers. She delighted the audience with not just one but two raunchy numbers and still left people wanting more.
Millie was followed by Black Liver, a dynamic duo made up of Ruth Cockburn from Blackpool and Keith Carter from Liverpool, hence the name Black Liver. Their rock n roll comedy act is made up of hilarious songs, random facts and questionable impressions. It’s not hard to see why they were nominated for Best Theatre Production at this year’s Buxton Fringe Festival.
Next up were my personal favourite, Jolly boat, a comedy-pirate geek-rock band duo made up of two brothers Tommy and Ed. The pair had the audience laughing non stop at what I can only describe as the most bizarre act I have ever seen and yet some how it totally worked. I am already looking at going to see them again next month. Their act comprises of a medley of famous songs with the key lyrics changed to pirate related words. Like I said, random but hilarious. Their finale is the best bit, a complete tongue twister and utterly hilarious to watch.
Presenting the show was Nana Funk, Angie Waller, who delighted us with her antics between acts pulling the whole cabaret together. Nana funk is a women of many talents and she even gave Millie Dollar a run her money too! I am delighted to say that she also has her own shows which I imagine must be great fun to watch.
Holy Moly Cabaret is a laugh out loud show made up of some fantastic acts and although you are unable to see it again just now I do believe they are going to be regulars at the Liverpool Theatre Festival and I imagine that there show will be very popular next time so grab your tickets early as you won’t want to miss it. However, all four of these incredible artists do have their own independent shows on at the moment so you don’t need to wait till next year to see them.
In the meantime there are still plenty of shows left to see at this years Liverpool Theatre Festival so why not grab some tickets and treat yourself to a night to remember in the most incredible setting, The Bombed Out Church.
