Finding time to switch off and relax, especially just before bed time, is an important part of any sleep routine. This could be having a bath or some other form of self care or even going for a little stroll whatever helps you to free your mind from the days troubles.

If you keep your journal by your bed you can use it to write down your gratitude’s from the day, make a to do list for the following day so you aren’t worrying about remembering everything or even use it to write down your worries to help empty your mind.

Going to bed should be enjoyable. Make sure your room is just how you like it, nice decor, a mattress or mattress topper that meets your needs and maybe even treat yourself to some luxury duvet covers. If you are comfy in bed your are more likely to be able to fall asleep quickly.

The more you think about getting to sleep the less likely it is to happen and the more likely it is that you will start to feel stressed and wound up. If you find yourself in bed unable to drift off then try something different to distract yourself like reading or listening to some soft music and then try again.
