This week is breastfeeding awareness week so I have teamed up with the Natural Birthing Company to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a box of their 3 Bosom Buddies breastfeeding oils.

The set includes 10ml of each of the following:
Oho! – contains Geranium, Peppermint, Cypress and German Chamomile essential oils to soothe tender, full and heavy breasts, engorged breasts or the symptoms of mastitis. “Ooh” will also calm, relax and uplift any new mummy exhaustion.
Aah! – contains Fennel, Lemon Grass and Mandarin essential oils to support with milk production and flow and relieve any anxiety and stress – perfect for any mummies experiencing low milk supply.
Ouch! – contains Lavender, Neroli, Mandarin, Frankincense and Peppermint essential oils to soothe and calm sore nipples and relax a tired stressed mind.
Whether you are exclusively feeding, expressing or combi feeding these oils are for you. Simply add 2-3 drops of your selected oil to a bowl of water and then using a cloth apply to your breast for up to 30 minutes. Just remember to wash it off prior to the next feed.

Get Comfortable While Nursing
Try to do skin to skin breastfeeding as often as you are able too, especially if baby is hunger crying beforehand as this will calm baby right down and make the breastfeeding easier.
I would say it doesn’t always go naturally so accept this and keep at it.
Top tip for BF is to do what works best for you. If it’s a different feeding position, great! Nipple shields? Go for it! Using formula sometimes? Fed is best! Don’t let anyone pressure you to do something. Do what works best for you and your baby.
Don’t feel guilty or bad if you can’t do it or have to combine with formula or pumping.
Make sure you feel comfortable and also that you give equally from each breast – my breasts are different sizes as I fed my son on the left hand more, being left-handed, it’s not a massive difference, but enough that I wish I’d taken more notice to do that!
My partner always used to drink a lot of water each day as it’s needed to produce the milk.
