The Mokee Cot Bed Review

When we were pregnant with Layla we didn’t find out if she was a boy or a girl as just with our two other children we liked the element of surprise. This did however mean that when we decorated her nursery we had to opt for neutral colours and so we chose grey and orange, or grey and fox print wallpaper anyway. We already had the wooden wardrobe and chest of draws from when it was Connor’s nursery but we needed a new cot to match as our last one didn’t stand the test of time. So when Mokee asked us if there was anything we needed for the nursery I immediately checked out their range of cots and cot beds and fell in love with the Mokee Schpinkle Midi cot bed with under cot drawer in the squirrel grey. Below you can find all the information you need to know as well as read our Mokee cot bed review.

When making a big purchase for a key piece of furniture it is important to research the company and read reviews first but as we are no stranger to the Mokee brand, using both their wool nest and mini pod daily we already knew that the Mokee cot bed was bound to be just as stylish and of the same fantastic quality that we are used to, so I jumped straight in and ordered it.

The Mokee Brand

For those not familiar with Mokee they are  a Scandinavian company who focus on making sure that all their products offer the finest and softest start to a babies life. The Mokee cot beds are made from FSC certified beech wood and their textiles include the softest felt made from Italian wool. They ship directly from the workshops so you can only order online but by doing so they keep their prices competitive and I am yet to find a bad review about their products.

The Mokee Cot Bed

The Mokee cot bed grows with your child and can be used from birth to 6 years old making it excellent value for money compared to having to buy a cot followed by a toddler bed. This particular Mokee cot bed is W75 cm x L161cm x H90cm making it the perfect size  for the gap we had as some cot beds can be slightly bigger. It is available in white or grey both with brown wooden legs. This particular Mokee cot bed has three different height settings that see it go from cot to bed as well as the option to remove both side panels or just have one attached, leaving it looking like a stylish day bed which is how I think I will have it once the time comes. It also has the option to add on a draw which I love as it makes use of the usually wasted space underneath and keeps everything looking neat and tidy, for us we have found this is the perfect draw to hide all the spare bedding in.

Our Review of the Mokee Cot Bed

When our Mokee cot bed first arrived I was a little nervous about the colour and wondered whether a grey cot up against grey paint and grey wallpaper would be over kill but thankfully it looked fantastic, especially with the wooden legs that broke the colour block up and tied it in with our existing furniture. The colour was true to the online pictures and was, lucky, just what I was hoping for.

The second thing we noticed after loving the colour, was the quality of the wood. All the pieces were thick and felt well made and very sturdy, which considering you are going to be putting in the most precious gift of all inside it is obviously very reassuring.

Like most cot beds, the Mokee cot bed is self assembly and although it does come with instructions I will be honest and say that some bits were a bit unclear and it took my husband a good couple of hours to build it. However, he manged it on his own and said once he had figured out what he was doing it was straight forward enough with out the instructions and would recommend you ignore the instructions and either google a you tube video or just use your common sense.

Once the Mokee Cot bed was built and set up in the nursery I instantly loved it. But I also loved how it looked with the underneath draw and think that it is well worth adding that on as not only is it great for the extra storage but it makes it look neater and more complete too.

At two months old Layla hasn’t yet spent the night in her nursery, however she has spent time in her cot, both chilling out whilst I’ve been in the room with her and for a couple of naps during the day, although I must admit she still looks tiny in it.

Update – Layla is now nearly two years old and has slept in her Mokee Cot Bed daily from 6 months old. We all still love it. It looks stylish, it’s safe and has even managed to withstand her jumping up and down and attempting mini gymnastic events in their post nap. Two years we still very much recommend the Mokee cot bed.

Mokee also sell three different mattresses that can be used with the cot bed or as it requires a regular size mattress (140cm x 70cm ) you can purchase one elsewhere if you prefer.

I am absolutely over the moon with our Mokee cot bed and think it looks so lovely in Layla’s nursery and highly recommend the Mokee cot bed to anyone that is in the market for one, along with the other Mokee products we have tried and tested too.
