You may remember a while ago we reviewed the Easy read time teacher wall clock which is still pride of place in my sons room and has been a great help in teaching him to tell the time, as well as getting him to stay in bed till an appropriate hour too!
As we found the clock to be such a great item and with Christmas just around the corner I have ordered my eldest the Easy read time reader watch as one of his gifts to further support his understanding of telling the time.
The watch works in the same way as the wall clock by teaching the children to tell the time using three easy steps
Read the number at the end of the long hand.
Say which side the long hand is pointing to
Read the number at the end of the short hand
It makes telling the time so easy when broken down into these easy to follow steps
We still love our clock but as the big’un is about to turn 9 and is being more and more independent I feel that having a watch and being responsible for how long he plays out for, or how long he spends on technology etc will be good for him and having a watch will help him keep track of the time and hopefully improve not only his ability to tell the time but also his responsibility and accountability for his actions so that when he starts to ask to go out with his friends unsupervised (argh), at least I will be able to trust that he understands the concept of time and will be home when we ask him to be, or at least that’s the plan.
What I love about these watches other than the obvious teaching design is that although they are designed for children they are not too childish and older children will be more than happy to wear them too. The straps are all plain in design and you can order the watch with a grey, blue or purple strap for £19.95, however you can also order additional straps in an array of bright colours including red, yellow and pink for £4.95. I love this idea as it means you can personalise the item using your child’s favourite colour or have a few different colours to match certain outfits of you wish. I also love the option of additional straps as it means that as the child grows the straps can be replaced for a fraction of the price of the watch which can then grown with them as they progress through school and go from wanting a bright red strap to show off to their mates to becoming more stylish and wanting a simple navy blue one to blend in more.
The easy read time teaching range is a brilliant range for children of all ages from the clocks to the watches and also their alarms clocks and games so if you are looking for an educational present for your child this Christmas then I highly recommend you check out their website.
