Lakeland Maze Farm Park | A Family Review

During the last school holidays my family and I spent a wonderful weekend in one of our favourite UK places, the Lake District. We stayed in Ambleside at the Youth Hostel and visited the Pencil Museum, Bowness and Lakeland Maze Farm Park and here you can find out what we thought of it.

What is Lakeland Maze Farm Park?

Lakeland Maze Farm Park is an outdoor day out for the whole family. It is situated in Kendal about and definitely worth a trip if you are up that way. There is so much to do including

A Maize Maze

Farm animals and meet and greets

Play areas

Tractor rides

Our review of Lakeland Maze Farm Park

My boys love being outside, running and climbing and generally being boys so I was really looking forward to this visit and letting them burn off some steam in the maze.

When we arrived the staff gave us some information about everything that was there and the times of various talks and sessions that would be going on throughout the day at no additional cost.

I was amazed at how much there actually was to do.

We decided to have a look at the maze first but got distracted on the way by various animals and a play park.

Eventually we made it to the maize maze and we were given the option of completing the small or large one first. We opted for the small one as we were not sure how our youngest (aged 2) would find it. The staff gave us a flag in case we got lost and a dinosaur treasure map for the boys to collect stamps on the way round, which really excited my dinosaur loving boys.

The weather the night before had been horrendous with torrential rain and thunder and lightning but surprisingly the weather on the day was beautiful, the maze however was a wellie only zone which only delighted my boys further! They squealed with delight as we squelched through the maze.

The maze was brilliant fun and we ended up splitting into two teams, obviously my team won, so we climbed onto the bridge and cheered on daddy and the tiddler as they tried to escape.

After the maze was completed we went back onto the park and played on the zip wire, bikes, swings and mini games and then enjoyed our picnic in the sun. After lunch my son found a giant game of draughts so I explained the rules and we had our first draughts match, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

When we arrived we thought we would only be stopping for a couple of hours but we were already well into the afternoon and still had places to explore and tractor rides to enjoy, not to mention an indoor play area to test out.

Our overall Review

The whole day was an amazing family fun filled day and I would highly recommend Lakeland Maze Farm Park for families regardless of the ages of the children as there really is something for everyone and we will definitely be returning next summer.
