One Day Liverpool Itinerary
Morning
Whether you arrive by train, car or plane we recommend you come early enough for breakfast and head straight to Bold Street where you will find an array of coffee shops, restaurants and bars all ready to serve. We recommend Bold Street Coffee for their incredible coffee and buoys, toasted brioche buns filled with scrambled eggs, melted cheese and other fillings of choice.
Once breakfast is complete head straight down to the Royal Albert Dock. Here you can have a stroll around the docks themselves, check out the boats and have a look in some of the shops and art galleries that line the dock yard and simply enjoy Liverpool’s historic waterfront and maybe even grab another coffee from one of the street vendors if you wish.
From here you can easily access the The Beatles Story Museum, an absolute must for fans of the Fab Four as it houses one of the largest Beatles collections in the world, featuring over 1000 never before seen authentic items but it’s also worth a visit for anyone who wants to truly experience Liverpool in all it’s glory. The museum costs £20 for adults and £8.50 for children, it is recommended to book in advance although you can just turn up on the day and see how busy it is too.

From music to art, it’s time to visit Tate Liverpool, where you will find a collection of both modern and contemporary works. Entry is free and there is no need to book. If art isn’t your thing then we recommend you visit the Maritime Museum instead, this covers Liverpool’s shipping history and the Titanic connection with lots of incredible displays and hands on exhibitions, again this a free museum and there is no need to book. Alternatively you can also opt to visit the museum of Liverpool which is also dock side and just a short walk from the Beatles Story Museum. All 3 of these are great so which every ones you are unable to do today be sure to remember for your next trip to Liverpool.
Afternoon
After a very busy morning and lots of walking it’s time to grab some lunch. We recommend going to the Baltic Market. A trendy street food market in the Baltic Triangle where you will find a wide choice of delicious dishes: everything from wood-fired pizza to bao buns and local craft beer. It’s also the perfect place to have a rest and do some people watching and even celeb spotting as you never know who you might bump into here.

Once refuelled it’s time to take a short walk and explore the Baltic Triangle and enjoy the Street Art. This part of Liverpool is known as the creative quarter and it is full of murals, indie shops, and quirky cafés. It is a great place to take some insta worthy pictures and don’t forget to get the all important shot with the famous “For All Liverpool’s Liver Birds” wings mural.
Once you have all the pictures you need it’s time to head to Liverpool Cathedral, the largest cathedral in Britain, with breathtaking architecture and a beautiful ambiance to it. If you’re not scared of heights then we recommend you climb to the tower for breathtaking panoramic views of the city and River Mersey before heading back down to light a candle.
After the Cathedral walk down Hope Street which connects the Anglican and Metropolitan Cathedrals and take in the sights. This area is home to theaters, Georgian architecture, and charming pubs, so if you have time why not stop for a drink along the way.
Evening
If your one day in Liverpool goes beyond the working day and you are able to enjoy this magnificent city in the evening too then we recommend you book in for an early evening meal at The Philharmonic Dining Rooms, a historic pub with ornate Victorian interiors (even the men’s toilets are famous!). Here you can enjoy a selection of classic British dishes or pub fare. Of course of this isn’t your vibe then you are surrounded by loads of restaurants with everything from teppanyaki to Italian, burgers to fine dining, there really is something for everyone.
Once you are suitably fed head End your day where the Beatles’ story began, at the Cavern Club on Mathew Street, where you can relax with a drink enjoy live music every night, and soak up the lively atmosphere, and pure Liverpool spirit before heading home after a day to remember.
Top Tips
This itinerary does involve some walking, if the weather is bad or you are unable to walk too far then we recommend doing one of the hop on hop off bus tours as you can jump on and off thorughout the city as you please and will also get to see lots of beautiful buildings and famous sites.
